This topic has been marked as not a support question.

Hi Support,

are there any plans to support more possibilities to assign product extra fields to products apart of categories? Like putting default extra product fields according to product tags, filters or attributes?

Would it be difficult for me to add it myself to your system?

Best,
Alex

Hi Alex,

We could add more features, but for the moment our priority is to add a couple of new themes first.

For the moment you can insert multiple custom fields and use Layouts and product design override to create different product pages with different custom fields displayed.

Ah, interesting. Could you please elaborate, how I use the layout and product page exactly with Burnengine to create different product pages?

Hi,

1) Create new layout from Admin > Design > Layouts

2) Insert this route:

product/product

3) Create a new scope in Page Builder > Content > Layout: THE NEW LAYOUT

4) Use the Design override option when editing a product (the last tab).

Ah, thanks. That feature is indeed handy to design custom product layouts depending on the product.

But if I have to assign anyway for each product a specific layout, I could go on and directly insert additional product fields to the respective scopes via html or text module. Or is there any advantage to use extra product fields for that?

Hi,

Extra product fields help you to move the custom product content into the product edit form and not Page Builder. You won’t need to create new layout for every product this way.

You still can insert all the extra fields you need and only fill those you need for a given product. All empty fields will not be rendered (container tabs either).
