Hi,
Where is the code located that govern/control the image quality of the image thumbs on the products category list/grid? I would like to increase the quality of the thumbs but I cant find the code.

Hi,
The image settings in OpenCart are controlled from Admin -> System -> Settings -> Image tab

Dear TB Support,
I have the same question and I think it is not completely answered in your previous post.
At Setting –> image tab you can set SIZES but not Quality.
I tried with size values as mentioned in the shoppica documentation …and with other sizes but both default products as our newly aded products show with very, very poor quality.
So somewhere generating the different sizes product images in images/cache/data the quality gets set to low but I just could not find the quality value in any script yet.

You probably mean poor quality of photos displayed in ‘Featured’ or ‘Latest’ on the front page. Go to the right module (i.e. ‘Featured’, not Shoppica) and change the size of the image there (by default it’s 90×90, change it to 180×180 ).
Hope that’s solves your problem.

darekgla has explained well about the image size issues. Generally the pictures use a decent quality and will look good, once you set the right sizes.

Right. But is the converted images quality SET somewhere?
Usually with some GD or other converter/size change function we can set a Quality normally from 80 to 100.

why would you need this ? It’s been done automatically : if you want to have 6 photos in a row, the default size of the picture on front page would be 140×140.The standard size of the picture in ‘featured’ module is 90×90, so if you leave it like this, the pic will be stretched by x % to reach the 140px.

Yeah I got that “stretching” and set all sizes ok now.
Just wondering as many time I saw converter scripts for images to keep image quality set to 85 or so. Not the full 100%.

@jeroenwijers
The php class that controls the image manipulation is system/library/image.php
