Images not resizing properly

ThemeBurn SupportForumsOpenCart ThemesShoppica OpenCart ThemeImages not resizing properly

This topic has been marked as resolved.

Hi there,

I am starting a site with shoppica template and everything works fine except the different image resolutions seem to not receive the resizing planned: pixelized product thumbnails, too small product slideshow, photos in product description not square (in the photos tab..

I installed a fresh instal of opencart 1.5.3 and added the shoppica files accordingly to the documentation.

However some image presets names (step 5 in the documentation tutorial) are different. For example i don’t have “category list size” but i have “Category Image Size” instead.. that leads me to confusion as per i may have made wrong settings in there.

I have attached a screen capture of my images settings and also of the site where it displays weirdly..

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Simon,

1) There are three intro sizes, which you can choose when adding one from Admin -> Extensions -> Modules -> Shoppica Theme CP -> Intro tab

2) About the blurred photos on the homepage, you could take a look at this topic:

http://support.themeburn.com/topic/thumbnails-problem

3) About the square images, which are not square; they are actually square :)
Resizing in OpenCart works the following way: the uploaded image is resized, until it fits in the dimensions from the Admin image settings and then the rest is filled with white.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Resizing in OpenCart works the following way: the uploaded image is resized, until it fits in the dimensions from the Admin image settings and then the rest is filled with white.

Does this mean i need to crop all my photos to square before upload if i want consistency in the thumbnails? I am used to the drupal “scale and crop” which makes sure the whole square is filled and then crops the sides of either height or width.. no way to get this resizing functionality in OC?

Thanks again,

Simon

There should be a way do “scale and crop” the images. The PHP class that is processing the resizing could be found at system/library/image.php.

We have found a topic that discusses the similar issue: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7081860/remove-the-image-resize-ratio-in-opencart

Hope it could help you.

Thank you.

I ended up changing the background color to #000 and it looks allright with black backgroud.

Thanks for the link anyway!
