I have installed the optional (* 4.) of the UKSB Automatic Friendly SEO URLs extention http://goo.gl/8hZ4n
* 4. (optional) Makes all other default OC links displayed on the front-end in to Friendly SEO URLs.
Now I have made urls from:
http://www.webshop.nl/index.php?route=product/manufacturer
to
http://www.webshop.nl/merken
In the footer it all works fine but in the information link in the top menu (under extras) it does not work.

In relation to this question I have placed a link on my upper menu next to wishlist, my account called specials, I have also set up the SEO url which works perfectly for everything including the specials in the information section in the footer but the link I added is still showing the index.php?route=product/special instead of http://www.mysite.co.uk/special-offers like it should do.
I have tried copying the link that works in the footer to the header but its not working.
Please can you help me get this sorted out as I can’t figure this one out.
Many Thanks

As we have said in our post above, the links in the information menu should be rewritten manually.
Information pages in the top navigation is a custom feature added by Shoppica theme and that is why the UKSB SEO plugin could not modify it.

I think we have crossed wires, I know I have to manually edit the top navigation. My question was which link do I use, the one from the footer that has changed when I did the Url change as I have tried that and it did not work.
P.s.
You do not have to buy the UKSB SEO plugin, although a great plugin, to change the URL’s.
I would not recommend this to someone who has not altered their database before and always back up before attempting to change anything!
Read this thoroughly and ask questions on the thread if help is needed.

@Klimskady
Thanks you for this modding tutorial; it will be useful for sure!
About the links; you need to hard code them. It is better, than modifying the controllers to make the variable work:
