This is my first OpenCart project. I have done a few online shops before but never really been comofortable with them. I had seen OpenCart being used for more and more sites, including some I use regularly, so when asked to build this one I took the plunge and jumped into the deep end with OpenCart.

One of my Client’s competitors is also using OpenCart so I needed a theme which looked decidedly different to the common OpenCart themes – Shoppica was perfect.

I was very keen to use a theme and extensions which were either paid for and provided support or did not modify core files becasue I didn’t want major problems with future OpenCart upgrades – so vqmod was an essential addition to this project.

Some of the vqmod extensions I used had problems with the Shoppica theme because the HTML layout for the main template files was different to the defaul OpenCart template HTML. However, after a few hours messing around with vqmod I realised it was not rocket science to tweak the XML files to make them work with Shoppica. In fact, I even created a couple of my own vqmods to add the Facebook button to the top right and also on the Conact Us page, which saved me a few £/€/$ !
