Hi,
A few days ago Twitter retired their old API, which allowed users to easily integrate their timeline updates on their websites with the possibility to style the tweets.
We have prepared a patch that will allow all Shoppica owners to continue to use their “Latest tweets” widget.
Update for Opencart
This patch is for the following Shoppica versions:
Shoppica 2 – versions between 2.1.0 and 2.2.2 including.
Shoppica 1 – versions between 1.0.13 and 1.0.18 including.
The patch is included in Shoppica 2.2.3 and up (1.0.19 and up respectively).
Update for WordPress
A patch for the WordPress version is also attached. You just need to extract the patch contents in the theme folder. WordPress version supports only the second integration option. If you want to use the default User Timeline widget, you can use the built-in Text widget.
The new integration method gives these two options:
Default User Timeline widget provided from Twitter
If you use this option, you will have to stick to the default widget styling provided from Twitter. The pros are that this method is easier and faster.
1) Go to Your Twitter account > Settings > Widgets > Create New > User timeline
2) Fill in your Twitter username, check the other options and then create the widget
3) Get the widget embed code and use it in Shoppica 2 CP > Footer > Twitter > Default widget
Custom Twitter application
Unfortunately this option won’t work on a localhost.
1) Create a Twitter developer account.
2) Create a new application and get your Consumer key, Consumer secret, Access token and Access secret.
IMPORTANT
Before uploading patch files, be sure to compare screen.css.php (for OpenCart version) from the patch archive with the one from your server, in case you have modified it.
Resave your theme settings, after you upload the patch (OpenCart).
For those that have problems with the Facebook likebox width, be sure to use the “Like box” widget type from the theme CP.
Best,
ThemeBurn team

Twitter fix for shoppica html ?
|
|
@mattreigle,
we have re-uploaded the patches, which should fix the ‘Timestamp out of bounds error’. Just download the patch again and apply it to your opencart installation.
About the seccond issue of yours – you are using an older version of Shoppica and OpenCart, which causes these notices. In order to fix them you should open tb_themes\shoppica2\admin\language\english\theme.lang.php and add the following two lines at the end: $_['label_footer_twitter_button'] = 'Follow button';
$_['label_footer_twitter_button_text'] = 'Follow button text';

In the end I’ve decided to go for the first option. It all seems to be working nicely except that the Facebook widget needs nudging down a little bit as it is covering up the title
My site:

Could you please tell me if there is a way to do this?

Hi Themeburn,
I have a small problem with this update. I have installed the patch and Twitter is working now, but I have problems with Facebook – lots of undefined variables. Please find attached the screenshots.

The links in our Twitter app are all broken because there is an extra period (.) at the end of each of them. Also, some of the Tweets are highlighted in red and I’m not sure why.
My website is: http://www.preciousbedding.com
Can this be fixed?
