Saving settings is not working PLEASE HELP!

ThemeBurn SupportForumsOpenCart ThemesBurnEngineSaving settings is not working PLEASE HELP!

This topic has been marked as resolved.

When attempting to edit and make changes to my website via BurnEngine, the “Saving Settings” idles and hangs without anything being saved. This has caused me delays and not be able to work on my website properly. PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!

Also, how do I remove the bottom white portion of the footer? I am planning on moving the information onto the columns above it but cannot figure out how to remove the white area where the copyright and payment logos are. Thank you for your time in helping me!

Christian

Hi Christian,

Some server extensions like Mod Security could cause this issue. If you have it running, you can try to disable it to see, whether the problem is still presented.

You can also ask your hosting provider for more information.

I have installed this theme before with an older version of opencart and it worked fine. Why the issues now? The “ThemeBurn” window inside the browser also doesnt resize to the page. I have to collapse the opencart menu on the left to see the whole thing. This did not occur before. When will all this be fixed?

Also, how do I remove the bottom white portion of the footer? I am planning on moving the information onto the columns above it but cannot figure out how to remove the white area where the copyright and payment logos are. Thank you for your time in helping me!

It seems support for this is very poor because I have never got this to work properly for me. At all and am very dissapointed.

Godaddy says I cannot disable Mod_Sec because I am in a shared environment. You guys realize that most people that purchase your templates will be on a shared environment due to the high costs of having a virtual server right? I need help please!

Hi Christian,

We are sorry for your bad experience, but we cannot predict all hosting environments. We will need the log from Mod Secure with the exact cause that is throwing 403 error. Can you please ask your hosting?

About white part of the footer – it is actually part of the content and can be changed from Page Builder > Content > Home.

I am awaiting a response from godaddy whether or not they can release the Mod Sec logs for my shared hosting. Saving does work in some of the BurnEngine tabs but it never works and it hangs on the “Store” and “Background” tabs which includes “common, subcategories, product listing, etc.” I have seen other people recently have this problem here on the forums and you just request theyre hosting credentials which I have done so in my first post already. Anymore effort you can reach out to me with would be much appreciated.

I am hoping to get your template to work for me not just because I spent my hard earned money on it but because I think its the best looking and functional OpenCart template there is. Please help me!

Regards,
Chris

Hi,

we inspected the issue again and it seems that it is not a ‘mod_security’ issue. Your server has a specific security software called ‘Incapsula’. It prevents the theme from saving in certain situations, but the only message that shows up is ‘ Security error (code 15), This request was blocked by the security rules’. There can be really thousand of security rules and we cannot just guess which one is activated by our theme.

There are two options:

1) it seems there is a tool, called ‘incapsula console’, which may be available somewhere in your cpanel. Please, search for it and let us know if you find it.

2) You have to ask your server administrators to give you access to the incapsula error logs, because we must examine how the security rule kicks in.

These are the possible variants in order to go further with investigating the issue. Trying to fix it blindly, means randomly modifying thousands of lines of code with the hope to accidentally determine the blocking rule- as you may guess this is not an option for a small team.

Godaddy says that “INCAPSULA” is actually my website security and that it is a firewall attached to the DNS only. There are no errors in the INCAPSULA log as well. They stated that this website security prevents bots from roaming and running scripts onto my shared hosting account. I too am familiar with firewall and know that there is no way a change in IP address would make this any different. DNS firewall protection doesn’t stop my shared hosting server from running operations and the problem lies with your theme.

GoDaddy is the most popular hosting company on the internet and I am certain other of your customers use them. Please help me fix this and I am willing to give you access to my account so that I can finally have this template running perfect once and for all and so that I may start to complete my project.

Hi,

We’ve never said the problem is outside BurnEngine. We only say that there is a conflict that we cannot resolve without receiving more information what exactly causes the error.

Here are the screenshots with the exact ID of the error:

GoDaddy may be the most popular hosting company in the entire universe, but they give you only a generic non human template response that is of no help at all. As we’ve said in our previous post there are two options:

1) it seems there is a tool, called ‘incapsula console’, which may be available somewhere in your cpanel. Please, search for it and let us know if you find it. Or grant us with cPanel access.

2) You have to ask your server administrators to give you access to the incapsula error logs, because we must examine how the security rule kicks in.

Hi,

GoDaddy says that “Incapsula” is my SiteLock security software. It was not configured correctly to the database that I use with OpenCart but they fixed it for me and added the database and did a re-scan which found no errors. Everything on my hosting end seems to be working fine but I still cannot save my themes settings. My cPanel access is below…

Please let me know what you find, thanks.

There is nothing in cpanel, which can help us get insight on this error. Can you please forward the following message to the support:

Hi,

we have contacted godaddy and have resolved this case. The theme does not have any security issues and remains secure even without applying this fix.

The ‘not able to save settings’ problem is caused by a so called ‘false positive’. It’s just the godaddy system that detects twitter account as malicious script. We have made the necessary improvements and everything is okay now. We have uploaded these changes to your server and will release a theme update soon.

If you happen to reinstall opencart or move to accound before we release the upgrade, just remove the twitter code in Theme Settings -> Social -> Twitter and you won’t have problems when saving the admin panel.

We mark this issue as resolved. It took a long time to identify and fix it because it was caused by an external system, which is beyond our control and we didn’t have any reports about similar problem until now. We have to remind that the support duration, although somewhat longer, is still within our policy as it is very isolated and specific case.

We have released a new version of Pavilion, which includes the ‘SiteLock’ fix. You better upgrade to it. We mark this thread as resolved.

STILL NOT WORKING!!!!! I un-installed and re-installed OpenCart to the official release 2.3.0.2 and installed the updated Trendo 1.0.1. It did not take changes when I tried to change the homeslider images like stated before.

THEN I got an email that Pavilion was also updated and AGAIN it did not take changes of the background nor did it take changes to images on the homeslider as well. Specifically, wrapper background, uploaded image, click saved and it hanged when saving causing it to idle indefinately (AGAIN!). Do you have skype? I can show you and walk you through if you cannot figure out what I am talking about. EITHER REFUND ME OR HELP ME! BOTH OF YOUR THEMES THAT I PURCHASED ARE INCOMPATIBLE WITH BOTH OC 2.3.0.2 and MY BASIC GODADDY HOSTING ENVIRONMENT. Help requests on your forum are of no use because so many people are having problems that you cannot keep up! PLEASE REFUND ME MY HARD EARNED MONEY!!!
