Hi there,

The content for this guide is blank:

http://docs.themeburn.com/burnengine/extensions/seo-pack/

Do you have a guide on it?

I have enabled SEO URLs (in OC admin) and then turned this extension on (pretty URLs and Redirect) after generating the data and all my products throw a 404 now.

Is there anything that needs to be added to htaccess before this extension can be turned on?

Thanks!

Hi,

You don’t need anything special in htaccess. The default one that comes with OC installation would do the job.

Do you have the htaccess correctly working? By default the file is a .txt type. The correct file name is:

.htaccess

We will need the website url, admin and ftp access, so we can check.

You can use hidepost to share private information with the support staff.

Goodness, sorry about that.

Yes it was my htacess file, removed the txt and now its fine.

One question though, is it possible to always add the category into the product page URL.

For example, instead of listing the product like:

http://www.example.com/defy-90cm-gaselectric-stove-dgs162c

It lists the product like this:

http://www.example.com/gas-ovens/defy-90cm-gaselectric-stove-dgs162c

Thanks!

Hi,

Unfortunately, the longer product url is not possible for the moment. Since OpenCart supports multiple categories for a product, you need to choose a default category that need to be used in the url. Maybe we can add this feature in future versions.

Hi there,

Don’t really understand that, can’t it just echo the current path of the product, regardless of whether it is inside multiple categories?

For example, if the product called “xyz” was under “category 1″ and “category 2″, when the user browses “category 1″ and clicks “xyz”, the URL path will have “category 1″ in it. However, if he browses to “category 2″ and clicks on “xyz”, the URL path will have “category 2″ in it.

This is how most platforms do it. If you are concerned about Google seeing that as duplicate content, then you just choose which of the paths (for the product) is “canonical” and then the rest don’t matter.

Anyways, that’s fine, thanks for the response.

Cheers

Hi,

The problem with the SEO extension is that urls are not generated on demand. Generally this is the case with all SEO mods that change routing.

Hopefully, we will come to a solution in future versions :)
