Shoppica 1.0.12 has just been released. It is a bugfix and compatibility release. Be sure to read the documentation before upgrading.

Changelog from 1.0.11:

- added – OpenCart 1.5.2.x compatibility
- added – RTL languages support pack
- fixed – various error notices
- fixed – minor CSS bugs and browser compatibility issues

As always, you can purchase Shoppica or you can re-download it from your ThemeForest account if you own a previous version.

Shoppica 2.0 update: We are working hard on this release. Sadly, we weren’t able to keep our promise to release it in February, but there is quite big list of feature additions and we had to rewrite almost everything from ground up. There is a lot of performance optimization work to ensure a much quicker response times.
We know this is highly anticipated release and we are under strong pressure to release it more quickly, but we have to be sure that everything is well tested and there are no show stopper bugs. The realistic release date of Shoppica 2.0 is April.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

will try this out today. I assume I have to install the OpenCart update first, then the theme?

Also, regarding Shoppica 2.0, can you add “newsletter signup” as an option on the homepage the same way Facebook and Twitter are options.

Also, if you could have a look at my earlier post on another topic please, http://support.themeburn.com/topic/reduce-size-of-price-circle-and-also-re-position

Thank you

I am now worried as I have had to have modules recoded to work with shoppica, does that mean that they will not work it you have ‘rewrote everything from the ground up”?

I can’t be the only one that is worried about this surely?

@milky786
You can download an extension that allows you to place a newsletter signup module where you want it on your site, it will just need to be styled for shoppica which someone may be able to help you with.

@Klimskady

It is hard to bring a lot of new features and keep compatibility at the same time.

We’ve separated entirely the menu from the controller and now everybody can modify the menu markup without hacking in the controllers. The mobile version and the 960 grid layout e.g. were not playing well together, so we had to remove the gird. Generally, we’ve tweaked and simplified the markup and the styles, where possible, but overall we’ve kept the same structure and classes as in the old Shoppica. The main idea is everything to become easier for modification by the user.

The main rewrite was in the admin panel and the controller/model part, where hopefully, you haven’t touched a lot (or touched at all).

The other thing is that you don’t have to update to Shoppica 2. Shoppica 1.x is a complete software – it will continue to exist and we will be providing updates for future OpenCart versions.

Best,
ThemeBurn team

Thanks for giving a heads up on Shoppica 2.0.
It sounds very promising. :)

Thank you very much for your reply, It really is much appreciated.

I suppose I may be worrying unnecessarily but I have installed extensions and have been very lucky to receive help in getting them to work on with the Shoppica theme as the layout was different to the default theme that came with Opencart

If the upgrade would then change the layout then quite possibly my extensions would need to be recoded which I doubt very much I would get the help to do, and as I am not someone who could code that would leave me with some very expensive files I would not be able to use, hence the reason I am cautious.

I don’t believe that I have changed anything too severe in the admin, except for some vQmods that allow for better reports and other small things, with the controller and model sections I am a little worried as I think several of my extensions had files that were put there (Hopefully not changing the original file but adding to the system etc)

It is a shame to hear that the grid system is being replaced as that is one of the nice features Shoppica is known for, I hope that the theme will still look as good as it currently does.

I know that I could keep with the current version of Shoppica but I have been wanting to integrate a mobile theme to my website, which of course is the main new features stated so that alone is making me want to upgrade…. I think I will give it a go but if it does not work as planned revert back to the current version.

Hi there,

I understand that it might be difficult to answer, but are we looking at beginning/mid or end of April for 2.0 release?

Also, is there a possibility of an earlier beta release of Shoppica 2.0?

I totally understand there would be bugs/missing features in a beta release (and I won’t complain!), but I am going to begin some customisations to Shoppica for my store, and it would save me a lot of time and effort if I had the 2.0 code, since I need the mobile version.

Thanks!
