Shoppica 2 BETA

ThemeBurn SupportForumsGeneralWhat’s new?ArchiveShoppica 2 BETA

Hi everybody!

We have prepared a Shoppica 2 Beta package for testing purposes. Here is some important things to have in mind:

- Shoppica 2 is compatible with OpenCart 1.5.2.x only. There will be no compatibility with lower versions
- Shoppica 2 is not a direct upgrade to Shoppica 1. Shoppica 2 is a different theme.
- Shoppica 2 is fully compatible with Shoppica 1. You could have the two versions together.
- Shoppica 2 replaces two opencart core files. We have modified them to suit the Shoppica 2 needs for custom functionality. These modification are made in a FULLY compatible way with Opencart, so you don’t risk breaking other themes or custom modules.
- The current release is a BETA and is only for testing purposes. It is not recommended to be used on a production installation.

We would be very grateful, if you test Shoppica 2 on mobile devices – smartphones and tablets. The mobile support is a major Shoppica 2 feature and we have worked hard on it.

Shoppica 2 supports only modern smartphones – Android, iOs. We haven’t tested (and won’t support) legacy OS like Symbian. We also don’t support Opera Mini, as it is cut-out version of Opera Mobile (which is supported by Shoppica 2). We are especially interested in Windows 7.5 Mango phones as we dont’t have this device on hand – tell us if you have one.

Bug report

The idea of Shoppica 2 BETA is to clear as much bugs as possible. The most helpfull way of reporting bugs will be:

- provide a full description of the problem
- describe the exact steps to reproduce the bug. The bare information about the error existence is not always sufficient. We need to invoke the error an it must occur every time.
- provide the exact problematic page
- provide a screenshot, if possible
- provide the device, OS, browser and browser version

Please do not ask for

- how to upgrade Shoppica 1 to Shoppica 2 – this question is not correct, because there is no such thing as upgrade. They are just different themes.
- how to achieve custom functionality with Shoppica 2. The beta release is for bug reports only.

Advices

If you can’t come along with Shoppica 2, just stay with Shoppica 1. We won’t drop support for it and we will continue to provide bug fixes and compatibility with the latest OC versions.

If you have custom functionality and modules that are working with Shoppica 1 and you can’t set them right with Shoppica 2, do not hurry to migrate. You can wait until Shoppica 2 gets more popular and more extensions provide compatibility. The documentation and the knowledge base will also improve over the time.

You better wait for the final release before doing any custom modification. We may change some code and markup for the final release without providing changelog.

Installation

The backend doesn’t work well, when i choose something in left column in CP, it brings me to the login again with an error of token invalid.

The codification of the theme is not UTF-8 too..

tested on desktop and it seems to be working very well. The only thing I noticed which might require some customization is the Price in Text form which looks plain in my opinion.Also, any possibilities of adding a section for custom css?

Is there a hosted demo preview of the beta?

Hi!

I tested the RTL/LTL-feature and it seems to me that if you change direction the language also becomes the opposite.

For example, “Your shopping cart is empty!”, became “!Your shopping cart is empty”.

This is one of the things I noticed, also the information-category in the top parent meny were a little bit disturbing.

Above these things I really like the new shoppica 2!

Do you know how the mobile version will look like if you use one page checkout?

Best regards,
Danielle

Hi,
First, thanks for this great theme and support.

I uploaded files and activated the theme. Then I enable ThemeBurn Shoppica2 CP. It gave this error:

Fatal error: Class 'TB_AdminController' not found in /home/xxx/public_html/avm/tb_themes/tbspecial/library/AdminSubcontroller.php on line 8

Thanks.

Edit: I’m upgrading OpenCart now. Maybe that will solve this problem. I’ll send feedbacks.

@budalal

No, Shoppica 2 won’t support OpenCart 1.5.1.x and lower. We don’t plan to support either.

@sopedro

Thanks for spotting this :) It is fixed now.

@3antz

Could you explain a bit more what you mean about the price formatting? Have you taken a look at the option to choose between the old circle tag and a plain text price?

About the custom css field, we will see, what we could do :)

@sliilvia

Unfortunately, there is no hosted demo for the moment.

@Picazoo

This is the point of the RTL version (right to left language). The best way to test this is to try using Hebrew or Arab languages :)

About the one page checkout, you will need to add some additional styles for the mobile version.

@mrtnb

The error is most probably from the upgrade you’ve mentioned.

Again, thank you everybody for spending your time to make Shoppica a great theme :)

Best regards,
ThemeBurn team

Thanks for your reply. Problem still occurs. I upgraded the OpenCart to the latest. Then I reuploaded all shoppica 2 files and still the same. I wish I could use it.

How can I solve this? I think I can solve by myself with little of your support :)

Thanks

hi,

just a question…the shoppica 2 will be available as a free download for shoppica 1 buyers?

Thanks

Regarding the plain text, is there a possibility to add the word Price in the product page?
Example attached. This is what it looks like when I turn on Price Text and colored it Black. Notice there isn’t the word Price in front of it. Some customers might have some difficulties locating the price – trust me it happens :)

Also, the CSS might actually come in handy, especially custom styling without modifying the core files :) it’s just a thought anyway. Shoppica 2 is pretty good as it is right now.

the reviews doesn’t work…there is an error in product.tpl file.

If i copy the old javascript code from shoppica 1 it works well because the old code don’t have php conditions inside javascript code.
