demo page?

Happy for other beta testers or those intending to upgrade to check out my website which is currently using Shoppica 2…

http://www.footystuff.co.uk

I am aware that minor bugs might exist.

If you can highlight any, please do so but more than anything, this will probably show off responsiveness of template.

This is a brand new website launch so the impact of any bugs is fairly negligible!

Clearly if you are intending to upgrade from an existing install which is active and regularly receiving orders, do so with care and test everything before migrating.

Try viewing on your mobile phone or tablet for an example or you can even re-size your browser window which works too. Minor styling bugs exist which I will post in due course.

P.S. I am aware that the page load times are occasionally slower than I would like.

I do not believe this is related to the template.

I could not get the older Shoppica Theme to work well with my category structure. Page load times were often in excess of 30seconds so clearly some major improvements have been in this upgrade.

I now believe my host is the weakest link as there is negligible performance difference between the opencart default template and the Shoppica one. I will be migrating all source to a better environment in the coming weeks. I expect this to improve things.

For now, I can live with the slightly slow performance on occasion.

Hi, you can download a extension to improve dramaticaly the speed of page loads…
It’s VQmod and run with opencart 1.5.2.1 too.

download it here, it’s free….http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension/info&extension_id=5287&filter_search=speed up&sort=e.date_modified&order=DESC

Thanks

Added indexes and installed VQMod.
No noticeable improvement but it can only help.

I will still be moving host as current hosting set up is not great and I already have a better hosting solution that I can migrate this site to which is being used for another live website and which has plenty more power and capacity.

There is no doubt that OpenCart 1.5.2.1 and Shoppica 2 works much better for large category structures than any previous versions of OpenCart and Shoppica.

I had almost abandoned hope in recent months but it now appears that the problems are being addressed for large categories.

Thanks anyway.

@gcheers

We have made DRASTIC improvement in Shoppica2 loading times the last 2 weeks (after we released the beta version). We managed to make Shoppica faster than Opencart (without cutting any features). By faster, I mean FASTER. Over 200% raw speed improvement in our testing environment.
As we needed some modifications in several opencart core files, we made a vqmod extension along with Shoppica2 plugin (they work together only). We’ll release them for free along with Shoppica2 final in the next two weeks. I am curious how Shoppica2 will perform on your current hosting, so I would ask you to wait for the final release in order to observe the difference.

P.S. The indexes don’t help the opencart performance very much, because the queries just don’t use them. We rewrote some of the slowest queries in order to take benefit from the indexes. We also managed to cut down the number of performed queries per request – from several hundreds (over thousand in some situations) to around 60 queries. I think the performance improvement will be the biggest feature in Shoppica2.

Stay tuned.

I made a little tests and ony bug i found is on footer at facebook code, for now.
I have one request, on v 1.xx i make my own changes and i think and on 2.xx will be great to have, when product does not have a photo, add “no proto” photo like in categories, see what i must to say http://www.ewizard.ro/portabile/laptop
this must be all over the pages, in product details, compare, wish list, chart, etc….
Also i change register form, check out and other form regading romanian law.
I think is very important to have also filters on left or right of categoryes pages, by prices (min-max), brands and some attributes, something like this: http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension/info&extension_id=4057&filter_search=attributes&sort=e.date_modified&order=DESC&page=3
I have one question about v 1, how to make List not Grid default? I see in v 2 this option on admin. I don`t make yet test vor v2 on mobile but i will do soon.

Best regards

Hi,

Even though I have “Brands” (both under “Opencart” & under “Navigation” in the “Store Features”) disabled, it still shows up in the main menu:

A bug or am I missing something?

Installed Shoppica 2 on opencart 1.5.2.1

Getting the error Fatal error: Class ‘Browser’ not found in /home/XXXX/public_html/catalog/view/theme/shoppica/template/common/footer.tpl on line 1

Saw couple of postings relevant to the same topic…reply was that the 1.5 version of Shoppica was not compatible with 1.5.2.1 version of OpenCart (not yet). However, the one I am trying is Shoppica 2 on Opencart 1.5.2.1 and still getting this error? Any thoughts?

Hi kmac,

The solution is in the top of this page http://support.themeburn.com/topic/shoppica-2-beta/page/2

@harishvenkatachalam

Do you have the website online so we could have a look?

We will need ftp and admin access in this case. You can use hidepost to share private information with the support staff.
