Custom Login – Modify wpsc-user-log.php

Hello, I want to authenticate my users from an external API. The wpsc-user-log.php file as I’ve seen uses the wp-login.php to make the authentication. Instead of use the current one, I want to create my own authentication (call the API and on success set cookies, set session variables, and everything that wp-login does). What shall I modify in wpsc-user-log file? Could you please help me how to do it? Below are the credentials to my site.
