Add Facebook Like Button to Products

I’m having a really difficult time figuring out the whole Facebook thing. I have Facebook in my Shoppica 2 footer, but there’s no Like button. There’s just the word “Facebook.” And I entered my Facebook ID. Should there be a like button next to the word?

Also, how do I add a Like button and Tweet button to all my products? I’m wondering why there’s only the Google +1 built into OpenCart.

Is there a tutorial I missed on integrating Facebook functionality? I’ve tried searching here, and am finding only posts on formatting. Searching OpenCart returns massively confusing coding upgrades.

Shouldn’t this be easy? I’m no programmer.

And what’s the difference between Page ID and App ID. I couldn’t find it in the documentation.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

And what’s the “channel URL”?

Hi,

You can find more info about App ID and Channel URL in the Facebook Javascript SDK documentation.

About the facebook like button, there should be +1, tweet and like buttons on every product page by default.

You can check just for a case, if the feature is ON from Shoppica 2 CP -> Store -> Social Share toggle.

My social share toggle is set to ON, but I don’t have the buttons.

I tried reading the page you linked to, and this is far beyond my skill set. I’m just wondering what to put in the boxes:

Page ID:
App ID:
Channel URL:

I added the number from my Facebook account on the page ID that the documentation called for, but I don’t know what the App ID or Channel URL should be.

Hi nelson,

Page ID is what your facebook pages id is, if you go here:

http://nepallica.com/how-to-find-facebook-profile-page-id/

and in the text field put your username to your facebook page and then click get ID and use that id it generates in for the Page ID in shoppica,

for APP ID – you you can leave blank as its not needed.

Channel ID – you just put http://www.facebook.com/username so the username you used to get the Page Id you put in place of the username for Channel id.

And then Save Settings. And you should be good to go to see the Facebook Like box on your homepage.

I added both Page and Channel IDs and Facebook is enabled. All I’m getting is the word Facebook. There’s nothing underneath Facebook. I have 1 fan and he’s not showing up. There’s no like button on either the home page or in any product page. Social Share is ON. No Facebook or Twitter icons in product pages. I’ve checked in both Safari and Firefox.

What do I do next? This is a Shoppica 2 install after having Shoppica 1.5 (or whatever the last version was).

This is the only thing holding me up from going live. I’m very eager to get this fixed.

You’re seeing a Fan under the facebook footer on the home page? And you’re seeing facebook like and twitter buttons on product pages? I’ve checked with both safari and firefox and I don’t see anything.
