Any way to include attributes in the search results?

ThemeBurn SupportForumsOpenCart ThemesShoppica OpenCart ThemeAny way to include attributes in the search results?

This topic has been marked as not a support question.

It seems that when you search a custom attribute related keyword, the search results can’t find it. For instance, if you have a product that has a custom attribute such as a movie cast (with John Doe for ex.), and you search “John Doe”, it won’t show in the search results — even if you select “Search in product descriptions”.

If anyone can help, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ve search this forum and other forums and can’t seem to find a solution.

Thanks in advance,

Custom attribute search is currently impossible with opencart (and also with Shoppica respectively). Actually this is one of the biggest problems to resolve with any ecommerce system because of the flat nature of the SQL database compared to the hierarchical nature of the custom attributes.

We’ll have to wait for a future opencart release.

Hi guys. Can we use this sort of codes for enabling the attribute search in shoppica? http://opencart.web2y.net/64800-search-by-product-attributes-help

@DeeperGame

Maybe it could help, but this is not a trivial modification and could not be covered by the free support offered by this forum. You may post your question in the official opencart forums, or seek a freelancer to do the job for you.

You can also try to find a third party extension.
