Blurry product images

All product images are blurry in Pavilion 2.x. It doesn’t matter if it’s thumbnails listings, product page and Product popup – All er blurry even thought the image uploaded is high resolution/quality.

If i open the same image separately in a new window the quality is good!
See attached examples, where the image on the left is the Product popup and on the right the same image, opened directly in a new window.

I’ve also tested this on a default clean installation and the problem is the same there.

As a responsive (fluid) theme, most of Pavilion images are scaled down to fit their containers. This might reduce sharpness of the image a bit. We will have to take a look at the live example once you can share it on a public hosting.

But the examples i attached is from the popup where the image is at 100% and it’s still blurry.
Shouldn’t the popup image at least be sharp?

Where do you get this big image blurry? On the product page? The only image that is not that sharp is when it is not yet zoomed (it is scaled down by the browser to fit in the container).

Other reason could be the OpenCart resize algorithm, but we see the image OK after all.

If you select the image popup and not the image zoom, you’ll see the image is still blurry.

If you right click on the popup image and select “Open in new window”, you can compare and see the image in the popup overlay is blurry, but the image by itself in the new window is not.

We’ve rechecked the official website and images seem OK:

The blurry images exist indeed, but only in Chrome and when you click on the fullscreen button in popup view. Unfortunately this is a browser issue and cannot be resolved.

I have the same issue, however, my images are extremely blurry in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge. See attached: Screenshot 1( is image as it appears on product page while Screenshot 2 ( is the image as it is on our server. Is there any resolution or fixes for this issue?

From the screenshots you have provided, your problem seems to be connected with image size settings. Depending on your OpenCart version they can be found in:

Admin > System > Settings > Image

or in Theme Settings > Store > Images
