Browser Compatability

This topic has been marked as resolved.

It is really annoying that Shoppica 2 is not compatable with IE 10 and IE9 or lower.

Yes, I may ask users to switch browsers or downgrade or upgrade one

However, that is not really a good way to do business here in my country, Korea, where over 85 percent of people continue to stick with internet exploerers.

I’d like to know whether there is a way to fix layout problems occuring with IE 6, 7 and IE 10 or whether Theme Burn has an upgrade plan to tackle the browser compatiblity issue.

I have one more question.

Is it secure for those using an old or IE10 browser incompatable with Shoppica to make transactions?

Best regards.

Hi,

Why do you claim that Shoppica is not compatible with IE browsers? The theme is tested with all IE browsers except 6 -> IE 7/8/9/10.

The only thing that is not showing in IE 7/8 is the box shadow on product and menu hover (it is replaced with border).

P.S. We don’t plan to delay the death of IE6 and IE7 (which we will drop from our browser support list for future themes).

About your second question…

Unfortunately, we are not dealing with browser security, so we could tell you a definitive answer. Generally, if you update your OS/browser, there should be less risk to use any browser.

Sorry I have mistaken the version of Shoppica I am using.

I thought I am using version 2 as I purchased the latest version of the Shoppica.

It turned out that I am using version 1.2, the wordpress version, which is not compatible with IE 7 and 10.

Yes, version 2 works fine with IEs.

Once again, sorry for causing confusion.

Hi,

The WordPress version has some glitches with IE7 indeed, but as it is newer than the OpenCart version, we just decided to drop support for this browser, which has less than 3% market share. The site, however should look relatively good with some to none visual bugs.

About the IE10 compatibility, the WordPress version shouldn’t have any problems. If you can post the bugs, you’ve found we will fix them asap. In this case, please provide a link to the problematic page and a screenshot with a visual indicator.

Awesome!

I am really glad to hear that TB is commiitted to addressing the IE10 compatability issue.

Ditching IE7 is not a problem as the market share of the old browser will continue to shrink.

But IE10 can be a potential problem as its market share is expected to grow.

I can add “Old IE Alert” which helps visitors to switch to non-IE browsers or upgrade to IE10.

It can, however, be awekward to force them not to download IE10 instead of IE9.

I really appreciate the dedicated support of TB and the wonderful design of Shoppica 1.2, including its woocommerce compatability and 15 dollar Slidelayer WP that comes for free.

Best regards.

Hi,

We will take a look at the glitches on IE10 and post the results in your other topic.
