default v home page — Difference please

Could you please tell me the difference between the default page and the home page. Im not sure if i can see any difference when i select it.	GWP

Hi, There is no difference between the “Default” and the “Home” layout. In fact there is no difference between the “Default” and all the other layouts. If you go to Admin -> System -> Design -> Layouts and try to edit it you will see there is no “Route” assigned to the “Default” layout. This means that this layout is only used for module assignment. E.g. Your product page does not have a right colum. You put two modules in the right column for the “Default” layout. Then for a specific product you override the layout with “Default”. This means, that only for this product you will have the two modules in the right column Not very user friendly, but does the job. Best, ThemeBurn team	TB Support

Ok, i think i get it. but… what happens if i then want to also chnage the layout for the contact page (to remove the right column). Do i then modify the default layout and remove any modules from the right column, then override the layout with “default”. Would this then not also change the previous layout for the product page as this is using the same default layout?	GWP

Hi, You don’t need to modify anything. The “Contact us” page has a separate layout Generally, you can create as many layouts as you want. You can then attach different modules to every layout and use these layouts for any page you want to customize. You don’t have to stick to the layouts available at the moment.
