Different logo per category

This topic has been marked as resolved.

My shop has 5 main categories (each one containing several subcategories, subsubcategories and products).
Is it possible to have a different logo in the header for each main category (as well as the subcategories, subsubcategories and products that belong to this category)?

Thank you

Is it possible to do a similar modification to banner.tpl so that dfferent banner images can be displayed for each different category. I have 4 diffferent categories (and several sub-categories) and I would like to have unique banners for each category.

Unless I am missing something at the moment it is only possible set one banner for all categories?

Thank you.

@hotscotchbonnet

You can use the default OC layout system.

In this case, you will need to create four different layouts for each category (duplicate the current one in Admin > System > Design > Layouts with different names). Then you will have to go to each category and set the new layout from the Design tab, when you edit a category. After you will be able to easily put a different banner set for each category.

P.S. You may need to reassign some of the modules for the new layouts as well.

Hi thanks for that. I am new to opencart and I had not found this setting area for layouts. That was a great help.

I am having a new problem. I used the code above to enable different logo images for different categories. It worked beautifully, and the result looks great, thankyou.

However, no other shop page (product, cart, information, checkout) has a logo in the head? logos only appear on category pages?

I was hoping to have a logo at the top of all pages?

Best wishes

@hotscotchbonnet

Be sure you have uploaded a logo from Admin > System > Settings > Image. The above code uses the site logo in all other cases.

Great that solved it…the product pages are now inheriting the unique category logo, and the information pages now have the logo uploaded to admin/settings.

Hi TB,

Tried this out, but the logo for the different category doesn’t appear on my website.

Hopefully you can help me further with this one.

@Rovara

Your id is just the number: 182, so the image name should be:

I did this but my subcategories are not inheriting the logo from the top category?

I did this, but still don’t get it to work. Followed the instruction exactly like you said. I keep getting an empty white space when clicking on a category.

Can you please take a look in my FTP, see details as followed:

Thanks!

@kevincochrane

Unfortunately, this modification won’t work with subcategories.

I realise it doesn’t work with subcategories. The original question was in regards to top categories and subcategories though. My top categories work fine, but I get a broken image in my subcategories. If I can’t have my logo appear in them then is there any point to doing this? Is there no way to make subcategories inherit the logo from the top category?
