Good day,

We have been experiencing error 503′s lately with our website.. when scanning the error log it shows PHP Warning:  mysqli::real_escape_string() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /**path to our site**/system/library/db/mysqli.php on line 45

Our host let us know that the reason our site keeps going down is because our PHP slots keep getting filled on the server we are using and causing it to crash (it is a dedicated server that can handle a very high volume)

Could you kindly let me know if you understand why our site would be doing this? often it is after saving options in ‘BurnEngine’ theme settings. most recently it happened after saving the settings in the ‘extra product fields’ extension that is a part of BurnEngine..

The site was migrated at one point from one server to another, could this have had an influence on causing the problem?

Thanks so much & Kind regards

Hi,

sorry for the late reply. Does it happen every time you save options in ‘extra product fields’ extension ?

Hi there,

My apologies for the very late response, thank you so much for your reply!

I have been trying to debug the issue that is causing our site to 503.. but it is extremely difficult to figure out (at-least it is for me..) my host said that they checked the Apache logs, and they believe that there are processes that are not closing efficiently (or at all) which seems to be filling all of our process slots on our server (we have a dedicated server, which is very fast) – they are saying that this is related to our theme.

We are getting this 503 issue, both when processing admin updates in the backend, and when users are browsing the front end (no admin processes being run at that point – but still 503 occurring randomly every few days)

This is really starting to trouble us, as it happens every-time my client runs a marketing campaign.. whilst this has something to do with the traffic volumes, our host assured us that because of our dedicated server –> we have much more room for more visitors, but due to website coding methods, the site is inefficient and crashes when multiple visitors attempt to browse.

I had another openCart Guru suggest that perhaps it is because of the way mega filter pro (we have this installed) writes its URL’s (with ‘[]‘s) in it – however, I tried filtering a few products and rechecking the error logs, and no result.. so I cant be sure about that.. perhaps it is something you have heard of happening before, and therefore is not related to your theme, but rather it is an issue with MFP? I have MFP working on another opencart website (different theme) which is working fine with no errors..

Needless to say – I am really in the dark here about how to debug this, and if the site keeps crashing, I fear I will loose my client, and the host keeps blaming the issues on us, as they say even with a fast, dedicated server, our site will continue to crash, as the processes are not closing fast enough (or not closing at all!)

I would really appreciate any advice/help that you could offer at this point -

Thanks so much in advance, and I hope you have a great day

Kind regards
