Multiple Backgrounds Not Working

This topic has been marked as not resolved.

Hello TB

I have tried setting different backgrounds for the following page:

http://modeliving.co.uk/artificial-grass

But it is only working on the non-seo version of the URL:

http://modeliving.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=300_310

Could you please help me fix this.

Thanks again for your help,

Phil.

Hello Phil,

Have you tried to update your Shoppica? You are using a bit old version.

We can’t take a look at your website. It is in maintenance mode at the moment. We will need admin access.

Best,

I have upgraded to Shoppica 2.1.2

I also have this problem. Is there a fix yet. I posted about this a long time ago. Even with the update you can not save the background/ theme color scheme changer when you have SEO enabled.

@philipryoung, @krazy4sales are you using some custom SEO extensions ?

July 23, 2012 at 12:50 pm #11668

I was using one that added .html to the end of page and also one that changed the “non-seo” pages to seo pages such as the “checkout”, “account” etc.

However when I had these VQMods turned on, I had problems with the “save” button on the “Colour Schemer” as you can imagine.

I now no longer have these custom SEO extensions turned on and the problem still persists.

If you want I can give you the login details to my cPanel and you can have a look arround. I also have root on my server if this helps.

Thanks again,

Regards,

Phil.

No I am not using any special mod. Just the built in SEO and deadcow SEO extention that just auto add keywords, tags, to the products

I guess it is something related to SEO or some custom modifications, because this issue does not exists with the default Shoppica installation and SEO urls enabled.

@philipryoung we would need access to the FTP to see what’s going on.
@krazy4sales could you send us the latest version of this SEO extension to test it with Shoppica ?

@TB Support, Thanks for the hint, I didn’t check to see if it worked on a basic theme install, before I post on any future problems I will check this first.

To stop this problem I disabled the VQMod I made to stop category URLs building up for sub category so that the url looked like:

example.com/subcategory-2/

instead of

example.com/category-1/subcategory-1/subcategory-2/

Because when you use the menu you will get the second option. But for SEO reasons the first option is a lot more powerful.

@TB Support, I have a load of VQMods that you might be interested in that could make some decent additions to the theme. I would be more than happy to help. A lot of them are for SEO enhancements but I also have some other cool features as VQMods.

Let me know.

@Krazy4Sales, I know TB take a while to get back to a lot of these posts so if you want I might be able to have a look at your set up. Let me know if you need help. its philipryoung@gmail.com if you want to email me or you can just post on here and I will do my best. I hope you get it sorted soon because it was pretty frustrated for me.

Thanks again.

This has also made me realise that there is a fundamental flaw in the multiple backgrounds.

When doing directly to the category (as the sitemaps will) the background does not show. However when using the menu and having a structured URL to the category the background will show. eg.

example.com/subcategory-2/
The above will NOT show the background

example.com/category-1/subcategory-1/subcategory-2/
The above WILL show the background.

Even though they are both the same page.

@philipryoung,

this is because the structured URL is the default opencart one. The direct category url is some custom SEO extension modification, which somehow prevents Shoppica from getting the current directory information, thus making impossible to fetch the background info.
As suggested above, you could share with us the latest version of your SEO extension to check if there is a quick solution to this issue.
