I need to add some custom information pages with a hierarchy into the menu and have a few options but none work as I would wish – I want a menu item called Technical Data with the same functionality as the “all categories dropdown” and to be able to change the content of each page within Pavilion rather than information pages. Pavilion Opencart theme 1.5.x

Using Information Pages with a hierarchy:
- I have added information pages to the opencart catalog and created a menu in the menu composer but cannot see where I can add a top menu called information with submenus and sub-sub-menus rather than adding the information pages which show separately under the add menu page tab.
- I have also created a custom html dropdown and written the links manually but if I do this then I cannot see how to add sub-menus?

> Technical Data >> Product Topic 1
>> Product 1 (information page)
>> Product 2
>> Product Topic 2
>> Product 1
>> Product 2

Using Custom Menu instead of Information Pages:
Ideally I would not want to use information pages as then they get mixed up with the generic information pages such as “about us” and also they would need to be created outside of Pavilion. Is there a way of having a custom menu item with sub-menus that would work like categories and that the pages can be modified within Pavilion?

Using Categories:
The only way that I have found for it to work visually is to create the pages as products and categories but then the technical pages are products instead of information.

Using Stories:
I could add the technical pages as Stories but then there is no hierarchy, the real stories get mixed up with the technical pages and each page has to be tagged.

1. What is the ideal option?
2. Can information pages be selectively added to the top menu with sub and sub sub menus?
3. Ideally, is there a sort of custom module that works like categories in the menu but for a type of information page rather than products?

Hi,

1) Unfortunately, there is no ideal option as OpenCart CMS capabilities are limited. You cannot have information pages with hierarchy, unless you find some third party extension that does this job.

2) Yes. In Menu Composer you can:
- Add a Static/Url menu as a dropdown parent, name it “Information” and leave url field empty
- Add the submenu information pages.
- Drag each submenu item to the right until it gets a small indent (just like in WordPress); this means that the menu is a child to the previous one with a smaller (or no) indent. We’ve attached a screenshot.

3) Our Menu Composer does exactly the same thing.

P.S. Please, do not use categories or any other modules to display information. You will definitely have some problems in the future.
