Product with Variations is added to Shopping card without selection of variation

When pushing “Add to cart” on a product with variations with “– Please select –” shown the product gets added to the cart although the message “this field is required” is given. This is FATAL, because the customer orders a product, but has not chosen which variation he/she wants. In my opinion pushing the “Add to cart” button should not add the product to the Shopping cart. BTW, when the product gets added to the shopping cart, it is not always shown directly. Refresh the page and the shopping cart gets updated.
