SEO
Information Pages:
I have spaces in some of my information pages, and unfortunately those spaces are converted to “%20″, which isn’t optimal for SEO. Is there a way to convert those to underscores or dashes? This is essentially how WordPress handles spaces in the file names. Also, any chance of getting products also to follow the “SEO” method.

Categories:
Treated with no SEO treatment, which is going to be rough.

Product Pages
http://www.allvespa.com/Custom%20Order%20Vintage%20Vespa?product_id=54 , again, not optimal

Please advise on how to harness more SEO from your SEO implementation or even an extension that might work well with this template.

thanks.

Hi,

Why don’t you just use the default OpenCart “SEO keyword” feature?

You can enter “SEO keyword” for every product, category, or information page. The result urls will be:

domain.com/category
domain.com/category/subcategory
domain.com/category/product
domain.com/category/subcategory/product
domain.com/information_page

Do I have to activate something in the modules in order to make this work?

I’ve changed the “SEO keyword” on every product and category and still doesn’t work.

In relation to this, how do I get more SEO friendly urls for Newsletter, Gift Voucher, Wishlist and Account Login etc?

Thanks

@Klimskady

You can’t have SEO urls with these pages with the default OpenCart functionality only.

You can use a third party extension however. Like this one e.g.

This didn’t work, when I rename it, the file just disappears and when I click in a product page, it simply gives me Page Not Found.

@Tigre96

This should work. You must also have Apache mod_rewrite turned on, but most web hosts will have this on by default.

Here are two guides for enabling SEO urls for OpenCart:

Guide 2
