Several Issues with Upgrading

Hi!

I am experiencing several different issues in upgrading my Pavilion Theme to 2.3.0.2. Each time I do it, something happens, and the last error was: “BurnEngine has not booted. This can be a result of an improper installation or an event deletion from a third party plugin.” This time, I’m doing it in localhost, because I already had to restore 5 times while trying to upgrade.

Please, is there a fully tutorial in upgrading both opencart AND the theme for the latest version? I’m already VERY frustrated with this. Thanks in advance.

In time, I forgot to ask: what’s the latest Opencart version that BurnEngine is compatible with? Thank you!

Hi! Have anyone seen this? I really need to upgrade because I’m trying to do simple stuff like building a submenu, and the ThemeBurn version installed is buggy. Please give me any answer. Thank you.

Hi,

For the time being Pavilion is compatible with all major OC versions (1.5.6.x, 2.0.x, 2.1.x, 2.2.x and 2.3.x).

Which is the OC version before upgrade? Generally, you cannot upgrade from 2.0/2.1 to 2.2/2.3 without loosing theme settings. Since 2.2 there are significant changes in OpenCart theme data handling and you will need to reinstall the theme. More information can be found here: http://docs.themeburn.com/burnengine/upgrade/

If the above is not your case, we will need an accessible store/theme installation, so we can check and find the exact cause.

Hi! Thank you for the reply. I’m currently using version 2.1.0.2, and I can’t seem to upgrade opencart without issuing SEVERAL errors. My store isn’t online yet, but I have already more than 100 products in it, and I really wouldn’t like to loose everything.

I already tried even upgrading (and even a new fresh install) and then installing BurnEngine after, but I found out several errors occurred.

Is there a comprehensive upgrade guide that actually works?

Thank you.

Bruno.

Hi Bruno,

Unfortunately upgrading OpenCart can be really messy sometimes. Sometimes the default upgrade process doesn’t even work. There are two ways you can take (your case, not generally):

1) Use some third party extension that offers OpenCart data migration. The problem here is that there are quite a few and we cannot recommend any.

2) Make new installation and try to use the default OC export/import tool to exchange data between the two installations. In your case, the most important thing you will need are categories, products, information pages etc..

No matter which option you will take, you will need to reinstall BurnEngine, since there is no direct upgrade from 2.0/2.1 to 2.2/2.3. If you have any important theme settings, you could use the Export/Import data tool of BurnEngine to export all theme data before the upgrade and after you have reinstalled the theme, you could import it back.

Hi again.

Thank you for all the help – I managed to do a clean install and restored each product using opencart’s export / import feature.

Now my problem is with the BurnEngine. All was working well, but as I imported the settings from burnengine, I got this error below. Do you have any idea of what can it be? Will I have to start all over again?

Best, and thanks once more,

Bruno.

Hi Bruno,

Can you try to re-save your color settings?

Hi TB Team,

Thank you again for your reply.

The site came alive again with your suggestion :D , but I lost most of the layout.

This is something that I am concerned about. Is this going to happen in each major update? Because you know, now, the store isn’t being used effectively, but it will in 1 month.

I can’t have to rebuild the layout everytime I upgrade TB / Opencart? Is there some way to effectively get the settings?

Thank you once more,

Bruno.

In time: I’m trying to create submenus, as the documentation tells me, I just have to drag the item slightly to the right so it will indent and therefore be put in the submenu.

I’m trying to do that, but it simply doesn’t work. I drag it, it indents and “snap” the yellow shadow behind it, but as I release the mouse button, the menu item comes back to where it was.

Is there something I can do about it? Am I doing anything wrong?

Thank you.

Sorry about that. This issue is more than solved. I’m going to create another ticket for the submenu issue. Thank you for your great support!

Hello Bruno,

If OpenCart system does not change anything drastic in the future, you should not have any problems with theme update.

Layout data loss is most likely caused by different IDs in the database for layouts, pages or categories.

Will close this topic as “resolved” and take a look at the new one.
