This topic has been marked as resolved.

Hi,

I’d like to make a few small changes to the otherwise excellent Shoppica theme. I’ve tried & tried to do it myself but keep breaking things! Can anyone help please? ;-)

1) Move the Payment Images from down the bottom of the Home layout, to underneath the ‘Wish List My Account Shopping Cart Checkout’ text up in the header (see attached file).

2) Increase the text size of category names in the top menu bar. Not the sub-categories necessarily, just the main Category names.

3) Reposition the ‘Social Icons’ from the product layout (G+1, Twitter, FaceBook) so they’re way down in the footer… they could even go where the Payment Images used to be (see point 1!)

I’d be really grateful for any help as I’ve spent hours on this and am getting nowhere.

Thanks,

Steve

That’s marvelous, many thanks.

Should this work with Shoppica 2 by the way? I’ve upgraded since the original post! ;-)

Thanks again,

Steve

In answering my own question, everything seems to work fine in Shoppica v2. I’m ever so grateful for your assistance. Excellent work!

The only slight issue is with repositioning the social icons (point 3 in my original question). I think I’ve followed your instructions correctly, added the code & style information and indeed the icons have been removed OK – but their new position is to the LEFT of the footer, not the RIGHT where the payment icons were. Please see http://37.59.65.85

This is what my footer code now looks like:

<!-- ---------------------- -->
<!--      F O O T E R       -->
<!-- ---------------------- -->

  <!-- AddThis Button BEGIN -->
          <div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style ">
            <script type="text/javascript" src="https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js"></script>
            <div class="s_plusone"><g:plusone size="medium"></g:plusone></div>
            <a class="addthis_button_tweet"></a>
            <a class="addthis_button_facebook_like" fb:like:layout="button_count"></a>
          </div>
          <script type="text/javascript" src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/250/addthis_widget.js#pubid=xa-4e20919036eba525"></script>
  <!-- AddThis Button END -->

  <p id="copy">&copy; Copyright 2011. Powered by <a class="blue" href="http://www.opencart.com">Open Cart</a>.<br /><a class="s_main_color" href="http://www.shoppica.net">Shoppica theme</a> made by <a href="http://www.themeburn.com">ThemeBurn.com</a></p>
<div class="clear"></div>
</div>
<!-- end of FOOTER -->
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo $tbData->theme_javascript_url; ?>common.js.php?v=2.0&amp;is_mobile=<?php echo $tbData->is_mobile; ?>&amp;is_touch=<?php echo $tbData->is_touch; ?>&amp;language_direction=<?php echo $tbData->common['language_direction']; ?>"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<?php echo $tbData->theme_javascript_url; ?>noty/css/jquery.noty.css" media="screen" />
</body>
</html>

Something I’ve done wrong, probably! :-)

Thanks again for the fantastic support.

Hi Steve :)

You’ve messed the markup a bit. Check the source of your current page and you will see the footer opening tag in the header container :)

Try getting back the old markup and repeating the steps again. We think this is a more safer way to fix the things.

Got it, thanks & sorry about that! The social icons are now ‘right justified’ as the payment images were originally.

In case it helps anyone the code for displaying ‘social icons’ in place of the payment icons, in footerl.tpl is:

<!-- ---------------------- -->
<!--      F O O T E R       -->
<!-- ---------------------- -->

<div id="footer" class="s_wrap">
  <div id="payments_types" class="clearfix">

    <!-- AddThis Button BEGIN -->
          <div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style ">
            <script type="text/javascript" src="https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js"></script>
            <div class="s_plusone"><g:plusone size="medium"></g:plusone></div>
            <a class="addthis_button_tweet"></a>
            <a class="addthis_button_facebook_like" fb:like:layout="button_count"></a>
          </div>
          <script type="text/javascript" src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/250/addthis_widget.js#pubid=xa-4e20919036eba525"></script>
    <!-- AddThis Button END -->

</div>

One small thing though, and I don’t think it can be me this time ;-) . As you can see I’ve grabbed the entire block of code out of product.tpl from <!-- AddThis Button BEGIN --> to  <!-- AddThis Button END --> yet the FaceBook icon doesn’t have the little bubble next to it with the ‘like count’ value in it – I’ve attached a screenshot.

It also seems to be a bit too far away from the ‘Tweet’ icon too, but that’s even the case on the original shoppica.net product pages! ;-) Any thoughts on why the count isn’t showing up and how I can position the FaceBook icon over to the left a little please?

Once again thanks for the excellent support.

Unfortunately, there is not way to make the share buttons pixel perfect until they all use iframe.

Understood, thanks Guys. Any thoughts about why the little [number of likes] bubble is missing from the Facebook icon though?

Hi Steve,

Sorry, but it seems we’ve missed your last question.

However, we can’t see the last modification on your last server…

Hi,

No problem at all. As it happens I’ve totally reinstalled OC, Shoppica 2 and moved to a new server. ;-) But it does now raise a related question; where have my ‘social icons’ gone?!? :-)

From memory they appeared on the product details page(s), around the ‘Write a review’ text or thereabouts. Now though since doing a clean reinstall (no Shoppica tweaks!) they don’t seem to be there.

I have ‘Social Share’ selected in Shoppica’s control panel…..

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Seems you’ve already found the option to enable/disable the social share buttons :)

Hi!

Well sort of – it was actually Firefox blocking their display! Something that’s perhaps worth noting for other people.

It would appear that with the Ghostery extension installed in Firefox the cookies / flash cookies / tracking bits that Facebook, Twitter & Google+ require client-side cannot be saved to disc and as such the social icons in Shoppica aren’t displayed.

Clearly this isn’t a fault with Shoppica whatsoever.

I do have one final query on this subject though please… I followed the instructions (above) to get the social icons moved away from the main area of the page down into the footer.tpl – this worked fine with Shoppica1 but in Shoppica2 no matter what I do the icons are displayed vertically rather than horizontally when they’re in footer.tpl !

Do you have any thoughts? They’re in the right place and seem to be working OK, except it would be great to have them back horizontal again!

Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Just use the styles (step 4) from our first post here.
