Undefined variable notice + other difficulties

ThemeBurn SupportForumsOpenCart ThemesShoppica 2 OpenCart ThemeUndefined variable notice + other difficulties

Hi! I purchased & installed Shoppica v_2.2.1 today. Back end looks wonderful, but when I try to see my storefront I get this notice:

“Categories
Notice: Undefined variable: tbData in /home/londonpower/public_html/catalog/view/theme/shoppica2/template/module/category.tpl on line 5″

I searched the forum topics and realized I had made the rookie error of installing the version for OpenCart 1.5.3.1 when I should have used 1.5.2.1. So, I went back and reinstalled all the files with the correct version, 1.5.2.1.

However, I still get the very same error. Additionally and troublingly, if I change back to my Default Theme I can see my store OK, but each page gives me the message, “The page you have requested cannot be found.” This applies to product pages and pages such as “Account” etc. Menus, header and footer are showing up OK. Maybe I’ve screwed something else up somehow?

Thank you very much for your help with this. I can’t wait to get it all working. :)

A little more I’ve found out after eating my dinner and taking another stab at things…

I tried putting the original system/engine/controller.php file back in place. When I do this, I can see my store just fine under the Default Theme. So that is no longer a worry.

Also, with the original controller.php file in place, but with the Shoppica 2 theme selected, I don’t get the Undefined variable message, but rather a custom error screen advising me that I have not completely installed Shoppica 2.

But when I put the new controller.php file in, as I’m supposed to, I get the Undefined variable message.

Hope this helps,
~Wendy

OK – solved it! Now I have to confess I did something dumb…

While I was installing the files, I was for some reason reading an older version of the documentation that I had found online. Didn’t realize it was specific to Shoppica (1), and guess what? – the mod (which I did by hand) to index.php was a tad different.

So, I went back and modified index.php the RIGHT way and now everything is showing up. Now I can start playing with it! :)

So far so good. Thanks for what looks like a great theme.
