The only possible mistake I see – make sure that you copy whole code and not part of it.

I had this problem, but since this feature is for ecommerce only (if I am not mistaken), I installed a VQMod which I got from the OpenCart site, and it is tracking sales. However it does not track traffic.
Should I install the code in the head file of the Shoppica template, as people advise to put in the header of your template? If so, where exactly am I supposed to paste the code?

Generally, the newest Google Analytics code should be put just before the closing tag.
