Background image size

Could you please be so kind to help me on this:

 

What should the background image size be so that one can have an image that makes sense on both sides of the site? Maybe I am not making much sense but what I want is to, for instance, have one object in one side and another different on the other. For that I must prepare an image as background that fits in the display. Am I making sense?

Well, the site width is exactly 1000px, so you will need to leave an empty 1000px spot at the image middle and them position it TOP CENTER in the theme cp.
