How to change the homepage layout by adding a vertical banner next to the slideshow

This topic has been marked as not a support question.

Dear Themeburn team,

I tried to change the layout of the Shoppica2 homepage as follows (see attachment):
1) Reducing the width of the slideshow to 65%.
2) Inserting a vertical banner (with two images) into the remaining 35% of space to the right of the slideshow.

With the OC default theme (or various custom themes) I never had problems doing so, but since in this case the slideshow is integrated into the Shoppica theme, I always failed.
The solution should also be responsive.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi,

Unfortunately, Shoppica does not support such a layout. The slideshow (intro) section always takes the whole website width and cannot be split in columns.

The solution here would be to use the default OpenCart Slideshow module, or some similar responsive module (like this one).

Thanks for your feedback on this.

Would it instead be possible to replace the Shoppica intro slider with another tabbed content slider, e.g. something similar to this:
http://codecanyon.net/item/jbslider-standalone/full_screen_preview/2872677
This slider fills out the whole width of the page, so doesn’t violate the Shoppica frontpage layout, but at the same time has the visual appearance of a column layout.

If that’s also not possible, how about this approach:
– disabling the Shoppica intro slider
– enabling the Welcome module and positiong it where the intro slider used to be
– inserting the html code of a tabbed content slider into the welcome module
– uploading the java script for the slider and adding the css code (since I’m not very strong with CSS I would probably enter the code through the Design > Style form in the Shoppica theme admin)

Hi,

The plugin you have pointed is a pure javascript code and will need a lot of hard code work to get integrated in OpenCart. We recommend to use some OpenCart extension from the extension directory:

http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension&filter_search=slider
