Painstakingly Slow Loading Times with Errors

I am using the Shoppica theme with WPeCommerce

I have not completed the website build yet, due to the problems I am experiencing. So I have very little content on the website, and two products. Whenever I work to try and edit pages or add products I am encountering problems.

The loading time for my website is painstakingly slow. I thought the issue lay with my hosting provider, and have been exchanging emails with them for weeks before we have concluded that the problem is with the WordPress theme.

I had initially installed WooCommerce, before realising that this plugin was not suitable for me and my website. I went on to install WPeCommerce which is perfect. I uninstalled WooCommerce, and proceeded to attempt to create my website. I cannot pinpoint when the issues occured, as it was so early on. I’m not sure if this was before WPeCommerce, or after.

Each page takes a minimum of around 24 seconds to load for me. Please bear in mind that I am using a brand new mac, and high speed internet and have no problems using any other website. I am building a second website at the same time using a different theme with no problems. The issue lies solely with this website/theme. When using a PC to try and view the website, each page takes so long to load that it ends up not responding.

I am regularly receiving the error message ‘Error establishing database connection’. After a minute or two, the website is working again as normal.

My error log was so large, I cleared it on Monday. It now has a number of other errors, that i am unable to decipher (and so many errors, that take place within the space of 3 seconds, that it’s impossible to even tell you what the error is, as I cannot attach the error log.

I had intended to launch this website yesterday, but have been left unable to build it due to the errors and the loading speed.

If you can advise as to what may be causing this issue, that would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

I’m not sure whether to be relieved or annoyed that I’m not alone in experiencing this problem, sketchharris.

Can you please reply ASAP. I am in desperate need to launch my business, as I have a number of special dates and events relying on my ability to get the website live.

Thanks.

Excuse me? I have included all details you have requested (url, admin and ftp) in the original post, to ensure that your reply wasn’t asking for details but resolving the problem. Am I now going to have to wait a further few days for a reply? As that it was I was attempting to avoid by providing all details from the outset.

Hello amandafarren,

Sorry we saw the details. We just checked and there is big lag sometimes.

The problem is that its not happening only with Shoppica, we checked with “Twenty Twelve” theme and there is same lag when loading pages.

Also the errors in error_log are not related to theme, because it is crashing when loading standart wordpress functions.

What hosting company answered you?

Check about same problems and guide how to solve here:

You can try WP Super Cache plugin, it will save a lot of loading time too.

Also if you check our support policy you will see that our reply time is 2 business days. We are doing our best to reply ASAP on each question.

Best,
ThemeBurn team
