Woocommerce Product Categories on the Home Page

Hi guys!

I briefly asked this as a presales question on Facebook and was hoping you could help me out a little further.

I am looking to create pretty much the same homepage as the demo on ThemeForest. However, I want to replace the “Featured Products” and “Latest Products” with a list of Product Categories.

So, lets say I have a clothes shop, I would like to display Woocommerce categories called Hats, Trousers, Shirts, Shoes, Dresses and Coats. When the user then clicks on one of the Categories, it will open the store to display just that category of products.

I would like to show the Categories the same way the current Featured/Latest Products show, so to show a ‘Category Image’ and a ‘From Price’ in the same layout.

Is there a way of doing this or adding this field into the Visual Composer, like the way you have added the other WooCommerce fields?

I appreciate any help and dont mind getting stuck into the code at all.

Thanks guys

Damien

I have noticed that if I use the Product Categories option that is already in Visual Composer, I can bring in the categories, unfortunately, that displays a product from the category, not the category image and it also links to the product it is displaying, not to all the categories.

Hello,

We are working on Visual Composer shortcode where you can do this. When it is done, we will send you the patch.

Hi TB,

Have you managed to have any progress with this? It would be really great if you could as the site I am working on is still waiting on it.

Thanks for the help

Hello,

We are not able yet to include the prices, so it can look only like categories in store.

The best way will be to send us your ftp details and we will include it, because there is too much changes.

You can use hidepost to share private information with the support staff.

Hello,

Thanks for coming back to me. I have only had a chance to check this now.

I can see that you have created the ability to pull in the category images and names which then link to the actual categories which is great, however, is there a way to get a price in, maybe to say something like “From: €10″. So the lowest price is pulled in per category.

Also, and hopefully this is an easy one, but when I go to http://snugglebugs.ie/shop/ and view the categories, I see a very small version of the products. They are using a class called s_subcategory. If I change that to s_item (through Firebug) I get the correct product size.

Where can I amend this in the code? Which template does it use? The closest I have found is the wpsc-products_page.php however amending this does not change the Shop Category page. Hopefully you can let me know this so I can add the relevant class.

Thanks again

Damien

Hello,

Unfortunately, we were not able to include the price into shortcode.

You can edit your WooCommerce templates in themefolder/woocommerce.

Hi guys,

You helped me with this last month and I just have one follow up question I hope you can help with relating to my request for the Product Categories to be shown on the Shop page.

I have recently added a number of Sub Categories to my list and they all now show on the shop page along with the Parent Categories. Last time, you logged into my site and amended some files, however, I am unsure of what you changed at the time.

Is there any chance you could direct me to these and help with removing the Sub Categories from the list.

Cheers

Hello,

Do you want to hide subcategories for both homepage and shop page?
