Problem activating Shoppica theme after installing OpenCart 1.5.1.3

ThemeBurn SupportForumsOpenCart ThemesShoppica OpenCart ThemeProblem activating Shoppica theme after installing OpenCart 1.5.1.3

This topic has been marked as resolved.

I installed OpenCart 1.5.1.3 into a separate folder of my website as follows:

mysite/store

Inside this folder are the following subfolders and filers:

(catalog) (image) (system) (admin) (download) config.php index.php php.ini

The OpenCart installation is working perfectly. Where I am getting stuck is at Step 1 from these instructions:

http://shoppica.net/docs/index.html

The instructions tell me to upload all files from “FILES TO UPLOAD ” folder to the directory I have installed OpenCart in, which in my case is called ‘store’. The files and folders that are in the “FILES TO UPLOAD ” folder are:

(catalog) (image) (system) (admin) index.php

Obviously, copying the files from “FILES TO UPLOAD ” to the ‘store’ folder of my site will overwrite the existing folders that are already there from the OpenCart installation. I have tried this twice now and said yes to overwrite the existing files, and both times this did not work for me. After copying the files as indicated, my site stopped working entirely.

What must I be doing wrong? I also noticed that the installation instructions tell me:

If your opencart version is 1.5.x you need to replace these files:

/index.php /image/no_image.jpg /catalog/controller/module/manufacturer.php (for 1.5.0.5 only) /system/library/currency.php /system/enginge/controller.php

Do I need to manually replace these files? Shouldn’t they be replaced automatically as part of the process of copying all the files into the specified directory?

If anyone has any idea what I could be doing wrong, I would appreciate the guidance.

Best regards, DanielAttard

Hello Daniel,

You have done everything right. If you have copied all the FILES_TO_UPLOAD contents, then the required files should have been overwritten. The instructions about the manual overwriting is for people with site modifications.

The only thing that you have done wrong is that you have installed an OpenCart version that is not (yet) supported. You should use 1.5.1.2 version or wait until the next week, when we are going to release an update.

If you still experience problems with the older version, give us, please, your website address and access to admin and ftp, so we could help.

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately I’m still having a problem. I tried a couple of times to use version 1.5.1.2. It configures perfectly and runs fine, until I copy all the FILES_TO_UPLOAD contents. Once I do this, everything stops working. I don’t know what is going wrong.

All of the required files appear to be being overwritten when I copy them into the folder, but after doing this, nothing will load in the browser. I even tried installing version 1.4.9.6 and I had the same problem.

I just loaded version 1.5.1.2 again, and it is running fine here: enchantedparty.com/store

I don’t want to just try and copy all of the files and folders from FILES_TO_UPLOAD again because it won’t work again for me. How do I go about giving you access to admin and ftp without posting it on this open forum? I would really like your help activating the Shoppica theme. Thank you.

Do I replace the entire folders within FILES_TO_UPLOAD:

Admin
Catalogue
Image
System

or do I simply copy the contents of those folders to the same folders in OpenCart?

I’m confused. When I copy the entire folder structure the site stops working, but then again the thought of manually copying individual files within the folder structure doesn’t really make sense either.

What is the right way to activate the Shoppica theme? Thank you.

Hi Daniel,

It seems you’re trying to install Shoppica on wordpress :)

The folder you have given contains a WordPress installation.

You can download OpenCart from here.

To use Shoppica you must firstly install opencart and then apply Shoppica (read the documentation for details).

Thanks for the post. I didn’t realize that OpenCart could be installed all by itself without WordPress. So now I installed OpenCart in the root directory of my site and it was working fine. Then I tried to copy all of the files from the FILES_TO_UPLOAD folder and after doing this, the site would not load.

I must still be doing something wrong. Would you mind taking a look again at my site enchantedparty.com to see what the problem might be? You already have the login information from an earlier post of mine. Thanks for all your help so far. It is much appreciated.

Hi,

I’m still stuck, and hoping you can help me. I’ve done a new installation of OpenCart 1.5.1.2 (this time without installing WordPress first).

Whenever I copy the entire folder structure from FILES_TO_UPLOAD the site stops working and the page will not load. Can you answer this question for me:

Do I replace the entire folders within FILES_TO_UPLOAD:

Admin
Catalogue
Image
System

or do I simply copy the contents of those folders to the same folders in OpenCart?

I would appreciate if you could take a look at my site and tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

I hope you read this message before responding to my earlier messages. I finally got it working. What I was doing wrong was that I was copying the entire folders and replacing the existing opencart folders. What I should have been doing was copying the files one at a time and putting them in place. Now that I have done that, everything seems to be working fine. Thanks.

OpenCart is standalone software and is not connected to WordPress in any way. Maybe you have taken it for some of the e-commerce plugins for WP (like JigoShop e.g.).

But anyway, glad you have managed to find a solution, Daniel :)
